Field Service Technician II

Provides technical support and service to customers for heavy industrial scrap steel equipment in the metal recycling industry.  Supports customers by providing troubleshooting and problem solving for equipment.  
 Job Duties and Responsibilities 
•Responsible for assisting with or completion of all assigned projects and field jobs as to design, specifications, and equipment requirements as required.
•Provide technical training to other field service team members.
•Completes work within set guidelines established by manufacturer requirements, company policy and any regulatory agency requirements as outlined by law.
•Ensures that the equipment, tools, and company property are adequately maintained to provide length of service.
•Recommend procedures, parts and equipment for long-term operation of equipment to customers.
•Demonstrates cooperative team spirit, works effectively with other groups and demonstrates respect for others
•Participates in internal and external meetings to support customer project requirements.
•Consults with Product Managers and Service Department to develop and improve product line.
•In collaboration with department, help determine need for emergency on-site service versus scheduled service for customer concerns and issues. Assist in resolving problems and concerns of clients and customers (phone and in person).
•Develop and deliver market training for customers as needed.
•Provides emergency on-site service for customers when required.
•Acts as a Metso advocate in all situations
•Manages time, skills and resources to produce maximum volume of work and reduction of errors
•Shows commitment to professional ethics and focuses on meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers
•Creates, edits and submits Field Service reports on time and with proper content as defined by your manager.
•Submits weekly time sheets and expenses on time, accurately logging parts and labor.
•Performs other duties/special projects as required or requested
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a field service technical role for industrial equipment which includes hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
•Detailed understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical operations of large industrial equipment.
•Experienced traveler with ability and willingness to travel overnight domestically, and at times, internationally.
•High School Diploma or GED
•College or technical training in engineering, industrial hydraulics, mechanical studies or other related field of study.
•Experience with hydrostatic and servo controlled hydraulic systems
Skills & Abilities
•Demonstrated ability to use analytical and observation skills to evaluate a problem and set a course of direction. Know when to contact the office for further assistance.
•Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles of motors and support equipment used in industry applications
•Ability to assemble, disassemble, and reassemble equipment.
•Safety conscious
•Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic engineering drawings and schematics
•Understanding of PLC networking and communications
•Understand AC and DC motor designs and applications
•Ability and willingness to travel both domestic and foreign
•Familiarity with industrial equipment / technical terms and processes
•Demonstrates dependability and punctuality
•Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid USA passport.
•Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks / projects of varying complexities
•Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines
•Must be able to function effectively both as a member of a team and as an individual contributor.
•Be flexible and available to interact with customers as required
•Be self-directed and motivated.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
•The employee is required to stand, walk, and climb or balance, and must have the use of both hands and legs.
•The employee must have the attributes and stamina to work long hours. 
•Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions – hot, cold, freezing, snowy, icy conditions on customer sites and during travel. Exposure to hazardous equipment in working yards while on customer location.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
•Use of office equipment including keyboards, telephones, copiers, fax
•Climbing of stairs at jobsites and customer facilities.
•This position can require both domestic and international travel, must be able to travel up to 60% of the time
