Job Description
The buyer is responsible for purchasing all components necessary to construct, repair or replace Metso equipment. This position must assist in developing sources of supply.   The buyer is responsible for negotiating cost effective pricing, quality, timely deliveries, commercial contract terms and conditions along with favorable payment terms with minimal supervision.
  • Negotiates pricing, delivery, quality, quantity and commercial terms and conditions within established requirements/budgets.
  • Assists with identification and establishment of good sources of supply.
  • Assists with establishment and enforcement of proprietary agreements with suppliers.
  • Develop written inquiries indicating material requirements, contract terms and conditions. Identify proper sources of supply based upon inquiry specifications.
  • Develop and initiate value analysis programs for cost savings and/or delivery improvements.
  • Evaluate inquiry responses to determine the best source of supply and issue purchase orders as directed.
  • Resolves problems and discrepancies relating to quality, quantity, delivery, pricing including terms and conditions.
  • Create and maintain purchasing records and provide clear and accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide clear and accurate Revenue Backlog report updates in a timely manner.
  • Support expediting efforts.
  • Identify and notify supervisor of workload status and potential problem areas.
  • Seeks to maximize the use of Metso sources.
  • Expedites deliverables as necessary.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain management, logistics or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 3-5+ years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and commercial contract terms and conditions
  •  Strong negotiating skills in complex project sourcing required.
  • Create RFQ packages.
  • Perform supplier analysis
  • A high degree of organizational skills to enable the buyer to prioritize projects and complete work timely under pressure in a fast paced environment. 
  • Familiarity with machine and fabrication shop practices is required
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications is necessary. 
  • Knowledge of computer software spreadsheet packages are required     
  • Must have good communication skills in order to interact effectively with internal organizational personnel, but specifically with external suppliers.
  • 10%-15% minimum travels required both domestically and internationally
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted with a minimum of supervision.
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under stress and meet the deadlines.
