Job Description
The Project Engineer is responsible for the creation of accurate and complete engineered designs and drawings.  Must ensure proper and correct filing of documents and maintain a current knowledge of 3D CAD techniques and systems.
  • Regularly interacts with senior project and design engineers, engineering group and project managers to complete a defined scope of work and to create designs and drawings in order to execute projects within the necessary criteria and guidelines.
  • Layouts and designs equipment for scrap metal recycling plants
  • Completes plant layout and foundation drawings
  • Reviews and researches applicable equipment options
  • Guides mechanical designers through assignments
  • Creates and details design equipment for metal recycling
  • Creates bill of materials for assigned projects 
  • Observes safety regulations and exhibits a concern for safety.
  • Shows commitment to quality ethics and focuses on meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Written and oral communications are organized, clear, concise and accurate.  Listens carefully.  Keeps others appropriately informed.
  • Demonstrates cooperative team effort within work group.  Works effectively with other groups and departments.  Demonstrates respect for others.
  • Assesses and prioritizes work requirements; develops and executes plans in a timely manner and accepts advice and/or direction well.
  • Possesses depth of knowledge and skills required, needs little or no supervision.
  • Reviews mechanical engineering processes to determine compliance with engineering principles, Company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Possess initiative to take action, without specific direction, to originate and develop ideas; ability to see beyond immediate assignments in order to achieve results.
  • Reviews inquiry specifications and prepare clarifications and exceptions.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in industry by reviewing current technical literature, seminars, trade shows, technical associations, etc.
  • Undertakes any other duties as may be assigned by management personnel.
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in plant layout and design of material handling equipment.
  • Minimum of four (4) years prior experience in 2D and 3D CAD systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills using PC programs and systems.
  • Previous experience in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
  • Previous use of SAP preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate at a sufficient level in English through both oral and written communications.
  • Able to consistently prioritize multiple tasks and function with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses excellent business literacy skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and trouble shooting skills required.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency & sensitivity to both internal & external customer problems and concerns.
  • Ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Be flexible and available to interact with customers as required
  • Take initiative to identify and anticipate customer needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Be self directed and motivated.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a current passport. Periodic domestic and overseas travel by air required.
