JOB STATEMENT
 
The Operational Procurement Agent is a member of the team responsible for delivering excellent customer service through demand processing and issuance of purchase orders for both MCA and MSE business lines.  Operational Procurement Agent is responsible for processing demand, creation and issuance of purchase orders in support of both MCA and MSE Business lines.  This position is responsible for effectively managing procurement demand assigned by category utilizing both established contract pricing and project specific information negotiated and provided by Strategic Procurement.  Additionally, this position is responsible for taking the lead in non-strategic procurement activities, including vendor identification, negotiation and selection.  
 
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Process purchasing demand as needed:
    • Convert demand into purchase orders
    • Assure delivery dates are consistent with overall project requirement
    • Issue POs to vendors 
    • Manage PO acknowledgments and vendor exceptions
    • Invoice processing
  • Support both MCA and MSE Sales by identifying vendors, executing RFQs, negotiating and making vendor selections for non-strategic procurement demand.
  • Coordinate and participate in communications between vendors and internal departments as necessary to resolve procurement issues, both technical and systematic.   
  • Has overall responsibility for purchase order execution, including problem resolution, expediting and delivery management.
  • Initiate new vendor requests and set-up in both SAP and Pool-4-Tool.
  • Conduct all business transactions consistent with Global Procurement Policies, Metso policies, procedures & guidelines, legal requirements, regulations & standards and appropriate ethical standards.
  • Identify, implement, and realize savings opportunities.
  • Participate in Global Procurement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Contracts, Services, and Proposals to ensure accurate understanding of customer requirements and expectations.
  • Participate in overall Global Procurement team objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY
Under the direction of the Manager, Operational Procurement, authorized to issue purchase orders through the processing of authorized demand under pre-established parameters. 
 
Requirements
 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, related field, or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in a large, multi-business unit environment
  • Must have direct experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid USA passport
  • SAP MM experience
  • Direct relevant experience in the construction, heavy equipment, or mining industries
  • Strong knowledge of Purchasing and Logistics in an MRP/ ERP environment
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, contract, engineering and service procedures
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and legal terms and conditions
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of negotiation techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal written, verbal, and phone communication skills.  Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with internal customers, visitors, co-workers, management, contractors, and suppliers
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Must have ability to complete assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision 
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Knowledge of personal computers required, with ability to productively apply Microsoft Office package
  • Knowledge of Operational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings

  • This position will require some travel, both domestic and international (less than 10%).
