JOB STATEMENT
 Strategic Procurement Category Manager is responsible to implement sourcing plans and tactics as directed by procurement management to effectively manage the assigned category sourcing activities. This position is responsible for maximizing supplier performance and supporting MCA & MSE Business lines strategies.
 
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Understand strategies for assigned commodities and proactively drive initiatives to meet sourcing objectives
  • Identify and engage global internal stakeholders to capture forecast & requirements.
  • Identify, develop and manage the appropriate number suppliers required to support operations.
  • Identify opportunities and initiate strategic supply agreement with valued supply partners.
  • Lead supplier selection to develop long-term sources of supply which support category strategies.
  • Develop strategy and lead supplier negotiations to improve supply chain performance, lower total costs and mitigate risks.
  • Identify & assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification & development process of new suppliers by working closely with global Quality / HOP teams.
  • Participate in development and implementation of sourcing strategies considering current and future requirements in Product Development, Quality and Manufacturing.
  • Responsible for assigned global category supplier compliance with applicable laws & regulations and Metso policies and guidelines including HSE, Supplier Code of Conduct etc.
  • Collaboratively work with all internal customers to implement strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Preparation of data and analysis (individually or assist the manager with preparation) for contract negotiations and pricing discussion. (e.g., spend analysis, research market and industry conditions, and collect forecast data on volumes).
  • Ensure price list are published and updated in SAP for assigned category materials after approval by reporting managers
  • Prepare & publish bi-weekly / monthly spend Analysis & progress reports to management.
  • Responsible for procurement savings and operational performance for categories assigned
  • Support operational procurement (as needed) in delivery expediting and quality improvement on escalation with suppliers.
  • Continuously improve/optimize the sourcing procedures/processes and support in implementation & ensuring best procurement practices and procedures according to Metso Code of Conduct.

Requirements
POSITION SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years working experience in Global Mining (or) equivalent Industry
  • Good knowledge of SCM category management including cost structure, risk mitigation, market analysis and selecting the right source strategy etc... Understands integrated supply chain and logistic concepts
  • Ability to work with global Metso team and global suppliers
  • English language reading and speaking skills at a professional level. Spanish language competence a benefit.
  • Strong customer focus with ability to balance quality, delivery and price equation.
  • Strong knowledge of the business functions of sales, supply, engineering, finance, human resources, business systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Must maintain valid passport and ability to secure required Visa’s for travel to legally accepted locations globally.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required:
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following spend categories: Fabrication, Machining, Castings & Forgings, Hydraulics, Bearings, Electrical & Automation, Gearboxes, Plant Utilities
  • Technical background or experience with strong mechanical aptitude including Solid understanding and ability to read technical specifications, drawings and production schedules
  • Good knowledge and understanding of legal, financial and commercial terms
  • Strong communication skills, adequately addressing all internal & external stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of business tools (SAP ERP, Pool4Tool, Microsoft office products –Outlook, Office, Excel, PPT…)
  • Be a team player and enjoy being part of a dynamic working environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read literature and listen to other employees.

  • Virtual meetings via SKYPE (or other equivalent applications) and working outside of own time zone is expected in this role
